FILCOLS at the Philippine eCommerce Roadmap Consultation for Creative Industries

To better craft the Philippine eCommerce Roadmap 2023-2025, the Department of
Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines
(IPOPHL) engaged with representatives from the creative sector including the Filipinas
Copyright Licensing Society, Inc. (FILCOLS) at the Philippine Trade Training Center in
Pasay City on January 11.

IPOPHL Director General Rowel S. Barba opened the stakeholders’ meeting by briefly
explaining each of the nine domains under the creative industries, namely audiovisual
media, digital interactive media, creative services, design, publishing and printed media,
performing arts, visual arts, traditional cultural expressions, and cultural sites.
Barba said that to raise awareness and spread information, especially on the
importance of respect and proper compensation for the use of intellectual property, the
IPOPHL will conduct a nationwide caravan.

DTI Assistant Secretary Mary Jean T. Pacheco emphasized the commitment of the
government to support the growth of businesses in the creative sector through the
updated eCommerce Roadmap.
FILCOLS staff Shaira H. Gondra joined the consultation and represented the publishing
domain.
